Kawasaki introduced the first production "Jet Ski" in October 1972 (the 1973 JS400 model). While earlier experimental personal watercraft existed, this 1973 model is considered the first commercially successful, mass-produced stand-up PWC, featuring a 400cc 2-stroke engine and inaugurating the market.
